Welcome to The Sterling Group’s DC Office!

While we offer online therapy and counseling services throughout the DMV area – Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia – our downtown DC office is truly our “home base.” The Sterling Group was founded in DC, and the majority of our therapists are located in the DC metro area. In 2019, we opened a therapy space for in-person sessions at our Metro Center DC office. While it was heartbreaking to pause in-person sessions almost exactly a year later at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to keep the office and held out hope that we would be able to use it again one day. The team was thrilled to resume in-person services in 2022 and even expanded into a second office space in the same suite!

Online Therapy Has Grown, but In-Person Therapy Allows Us to Connect Face-to-Face

As the popularity of online therapy grew and sustained over the last few years, we deliberated the benefits and risks of continuing to maintain an in-person office. And for us, the choice was ultimately a no-brainer. While understanding the convenience and benefits of seeing a therapist virtually, it is important for us to preserve the option of connecting face-to-face and sharing physical space. We have maintained our office and aim to do everything in our power to make it as comfortable for you to visit as possible.

So although some of our therapy services are occurring outside of our homes again, we strive to make our offices feel as warm, comfortable, and “home-y” as doing a session from your own couch or bed! We hope to see you there!

A Safe and Comfortable Therapy Office

We believe that the entire process of therapy from start to finish plays a role in your healing, including the physical environment you are in when meeting with your therapist. Because of this, our hope is that the moment you walk into our office, you will feel an instant sense of calm and safety. Our priority is to create a peaceful space that feels separate from and allows you to disconnect from the outside world and your other responsibilities and stressors. We want to set the tone for you to feel comfortable and empowered to start therapy as soon as you sit (or lay!) down.

Our Office is a Safe and Calming Space

You will notice natural, soft lighting and small touches meant to promote comfort, and peacefulness, and to encourage self-care. If you think of anything that would make you feel even more comfortable in our office or otherwise improve your in-person therapy experience, please do not hesitate to let us know! We are always looking for ways to make our space even more comfortable and healing. Our ultimate goal is to provide a space where you can feel open and safe to relax, reflect, and work toward your therapy goals and the best version of yourself!

How to Get to Our Office in Washington, DC

Our therapy office is conveniently located in downtown Metro Center DC. Our office address is 1325 G Street NW, on the north side of G Street NW between 13th Street NW and 14th Street NW. Our building is on the same block as Au Bon Pain and Ocean Prime restaurants and is directly across from Bluestone Lane Coffee Shop and Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken

Driving to Our Office

If you are driving, we are centrally located in the downtown area and easily driveable from most parts of DC, as well as northern Virginia and both Prince George’s County and Montgomery County in Maryland. There is plenty of street parking on G Street NW and 13th Street NW, as well as other surrounding streets. There are also several conveniently located parking garages right on 13th Street, including in our building.

Taking the Metro to Our Office

If you are taking the Metro, we are less than two blocks from the red, blue, and orange line Metro Center station. When you exit the Metro station on G Street, you will cross 12th Street walk toward Macy’s department store, and continue on 13th Street until you approach 1325 G Street NW on your right. If the red, blue, and orange Metro lines are not convenient for you, our office is also a short walk from the green/yellow Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Stop.

Upon Arrival at Out DC Therapy Office

When you enter the building, you will proceed to the front security desk and will be asked to provide photo identification. Feel free to grab yourself a delicious coffee, tea, or hot chocolate from the station on your right if you would like! If you tell the security guard you are going to Suite 500, they will assist you to the elevators and up to the fifth floor. When you arrive on the floor, you will enter Suite 500 (Carr Workplaces) and inform the front desk staff that you are here for an appointment. They will then notify your therapist that you have arrived! Please feel free to get some coffee, tea, or water if you would like, and your therapist will come out to greet you at your appointment time. We look forward to seeing you!

Can’t make it to our Washington, DC Office?

While we find great joy and pride in our physical space and always enjoy seeing clients in the office, we understand that many folks still prefer the convenience and comfort of doing therapy online. For this reason, our team has made a great investment into learning how to provide the best possible virtual counseling experience. More than half of our therapy services are now provided online! We use a secure video platform for virtual sessions called Jane app, and we make every effort to provide the same comfort and efficacy of in-person therapy.

Tips For Meeting Online

If you are going to meet with your therapist online, we always encourage you to think about creating a comfortable and safe space for yourself. It’s important that you meet with your therapist from a space that is quiet and ensures complete privacy. Additionally, you may think of what else may help you feel comfortable and remove unnecessary distractions. For example, a TV on in the background, a lot of clutter, or reminders of work that needs to be done may not set the most calming environment for effective treatment! We recommend finding a space that is comfortable, quiet, and free from distractions and clutter in order to allow your mind to feel open and present.
