Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to some of the most common questions you may have about our therapy groups.

  • Group therapy is a therapeutic, supportive space where you can connect with others navigating similar challenges and experiences. A therapy group meets regularly to explore related topics and to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Led by a therapist, you’ll support each other and develop a sense of community while learning valuable skills and coping strategies to navigate life’s struggles.

  • Because you are not alone (even when it feels that way)! Group therapy is a fantastic way to connect with others who really get what you’re going through, because they are too. It creates a safe space where you can share, learn from each other, and feel less alone while working on personal growth and healing. Plus, group therapy is an affordable option, making it easier to invest in your mental health!

  • Each group at TSG will have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 members, creating an intimate setting where everyone has the opportunity to share and connect!

  • All of our groups are created specifically for 20- and 30-somethings in Washington, DC, and the unique challenges they face! If you’re interested or want to learn more about if one of our groups is right for you, fill out our Contact Form, and we’ll be in touch. To make sure it’s a good fit, you’ll have a quick 15-minute consultation call with our group therapist, Shelby, to secure your enrollment!

  • Our groups run weekly for ten consecutive weeks. Group sessions are 75 minutes long, giving you plenty of time to dive into the topics and connect with others in the group.

  • While we encourage group members to attend all sessions, we understand that life can get in the way! If you can’t make it to one, just give us a quick heads-up at least 24 hours in advance. Because groups can’t be rescheduled without impacting other group members, we strongly encourage you to check your schedule and ensure you are able to attend at least 8 sessions before enrolling!

  • We are an out-of-network provider, but offer courtesy billing as an effort to help our clients maximize their out-of-network benefits and to take the hassle out of reimbursement. This means full group session fees are paid upfront, and we can then file a claim on your behalf, as a courtesy, to have your insurance company reimburse you directly. Many of our clients are able to receive reimbursement ranging from 30%-80% of session fees. Our Client Care Coordinator, Olivia, can instantly check your benefits for you during your phone consultation! We also accept Health Saving Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards for payment.
